Candidate for Vice President/President-Elect

Nestor L. Osorio (he/him)
I am a professor and information specialist at Northern Illinois University (NIU), a senior graduate faculty member, and a former chair of the Research and Instruction Department. I have published numerous articles in scholarly journals and have made presentations at state, national, and international conferences.
As the co-founder and editor of Issues in Science and Technology Librarianship (ISTL), I helped create one of the first digital open-access journals, and I serve as a U.S. editor for e-LIS, the European repository for library and information science. In addition to my multiple activities in professional organizations, I have been an ILA Board member, chair of the IACRL Membership Committee, co-chair of the CARLI Public Services Committee, co-chair of the ACRL-STS Science Resources Committee, chair of the ASIST Midwest Section, and a member of the ASIST Research and Engagement Committee. I also serve as a referee for professional journals and conferences and as an NSF panelist.
My areas of expertise and interest include information services and collections for STEM programs, assessment of university libraries, collaborative projects, library instruction, and digital services. My current research focuses on data analysis and visualization, bibliometrics, and the impact of AI on academic library services.
The IACRL plays an important role as an ILA Forum. As the VP/PE, I will continue working with the members of this organization by supporting the professional growth of academic library personnel, enhancing library services in the state, advocating for academic libraries at the state and national levels, promoting research in librarianship, fostering cooperation within the academic community, protecting intellectual freedom, supporting our diverse community, promoting the value of academic libraries, and recognizing individuals who contribute to Illinois academic libraries.
Candidate for Secretary/Treasurer

Ted Schwitzner (he/him)
I am honored to run for the position of Secretary of the Illinois Association of College and Research Libraries Forum (IACRL). Part of my professional philosophy is connecting people to each other and to the resources they need to grow personally or professionally. Service to IACRL fits with this framework, as in its mission to promote the interests of those working at Illinois academic libraries, IACRL makes all academic library workers visible and contributes to our sense of community.
My service experience with IACRL includes stints with the IACRL Awards Committee and the IACRL Bylaws Revision Task Force. I have also served on the Illinois Library Association (ILA) Executive Board, including in the role of ILA Treasurer. Additional past service commitments included LIBRAS, OCLC Members Council, and several committees in the Illinois Library Computer Systems Organization (ILCSO), including the ILCSO Users Advisory Group.
Currently, I am Senior Library Services Coordinator at the Consortium of Academic and Research Libraries in Illinois (CARLI), where I interact frequently with library staff of all professional levels. Questions may run the gamut from training and documentation needs to specifications for reports and new workflows. Previously, I held positions at Illinois State University as the Head of Library and Information Technology Services, as well as the Head of Bibliographic Services; and prior to that, at North Central College as Technical Services Coordinator. These positions have been valuable in reminding me that expertise, good service, and new ideas may originate from anyone working in a library, and that we have an obligation to find ways to respect those contributions.
