2024 Legislative Meetups
This series of seven legislative events provides an opportunity to meet with your legislators and speak with them firsthand about issues affecting you and your library. Library trustees, directors, and staff from public, school, and academic libraries are encouraged to attend and participate. Use this opportunity for photo ops with your elected officials to post on your social media or to invite them to visit your library. Learn more about how to be a strong library advocate and get prepared for a meetup by reviewing the Ready, Set, Advocate presentations and toolkit. Make the most of your Meetup with these tips from the ILA Advocacy Committee.
Advance registration is required, so don't wait! If you have questions regarding registration or you're not sure which Meetup covers your library and legislative district, contact the ILA office via email at ila@ila.org.
If you need assistance with registration, first review the Legislative Meetups Registration Instructions.
After reviewing, if you still have issues registering, email ila@ila.org.
Registration is now open. Please review the legislative meetups below and register accordingly. Your registration fee includes breakfast or lunch, legislative materials, and a program featuring state and federal legislative briefings and library-related priorities and speakers.
Deadlines:
- December 3rd & 4th Meetups:
Registration closed on November 21st.
The last day to request a cancelation/refund request is also November 21st. See below for ILA's Cancelation/Refund Request Policy. - December 9th & 10th Meetups:
Registration closes on December 2nd.
The last day to request a cancelation/refund request is also December 2nd. See below for ILA's Cancelation/Refund Request Policy.
Have your legislators RSVP'd? Check to see if your legislators have RSVP'd by clicking on the "Legislators" link underneath the specific Meetup below. If they haven't, why not reachout and invite them? Representatives and senators appreciate hearing from their constituents. ILA has made it easy for you to reach out to them; on each Legislators page, a PDF of the official invite to legislators is linked. All you have to do is download the PDF and attach it to your email to your legislators. And remember, even if the ILA office has not received an RSVP from a legislator or their staff, that does not mean they will not be in attendance. They may show up without prior notice and it’s best to be prepared.

Cancelation Policy: All cancelations/refund requests must be received in writing by emailing ila@ila.org by the stated deadline. No telephone cancellations/refund requests can be accepted. All cancellations are subject to a $5 processing fee.
Due to a rise in paid, duplicate registrations, these will now be considered a cancelation/refund request and therefore subject to a processing fee.
Payment is expected before attending the event. If payment needs to be made after an event, advance notice by emailing ila@ila.org is required. Failure to attend an event without canceling before the deadline does not eliminate the outstanding balance. Payment is still required.
