Lincoln Library Expands Outreach with New Mobile Branch
October 29, 2025
Lincoln Library has proudly expanded its outreach services with the addition of a fully equipped Mobile Branch, a bookmobile that brings library services directly to residents across all 10 city wards throughout Springfield and Sangamon County.
For years, our Outreach Services team has worked to reduce barriers and connect residents with the resources that enrich, educate, and empower. The Mobile Branch represents a major step forward in that mission. It allows us to reach neighborhoods, schools, senior centers, and community events where access to the main library may be limited.
Lincoln Library’s Mobile Branch carries a thoughtfully curated collection of books, movies, and materials selected through circulation statistics, ensuring we stock the titles our patrons most want and need. It also provides essential on-the-go services, such as library card sign-ups, renewals, material returns, and hold pickups.
The Mobile Branch has already reshaped Lincoln Library’s outreach by meeting people where they are. It helps us connect with new users, strengthen relationships with long-time patrons, and make the library a visible and accessible part of everyday community life in Springfield and beyond.
For our community, the Mobile Branch offers new opportunities to access information, stories, and learning without boundaries. Whether it’s a child discovering a favorite book for the first time or a senior renewing a library card close to home, every stop brings Lincoln Library’s mission to life—to empower, connect, and inspire lifelong learning, advance knowledge, and strengthen our community.
