Attorneys General Form Coalition to Protect Library Funding

April 7, 2025

On April 4, Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul joined a coalition of 21 attorneys general in filing a lawsuit against the Trump administration, aiming to stop the dismantling of three federal agencies that provide services and funding supporting libraries and museums, workers, and minority-owned businesses nationwide.

We applaud AG Raoul, Secretary of State and State Librarian Alexi Giannoulias, and the entire coalition for their commitment to defending the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) and preserving library funding.

For those who have been following all the news regarding IMLS, this is the latest development. We shared a full recap of everything that’s happened since April 4 in our April 3 legislative update.
