Call for Nominations–Access Services Conference Support Staff Travel Scholarship
Illinois Association of College & Research Libraries Forum (IACRL)
June 4, 2016(via Thomas Mantzakides, University of Illinois at Chicago and member of Award Committee for the scholarship)
Do you know a support staff member who deserves special recognition for their work and dedication in access services? For the second year, the Access Services Conference will be presenting the Access Services Conference Support Staff Travel Scholarship to two individuals who have demonstrated outstanding work in our field.
Criteria for the Access Services Conference Support Staff Travel Scholarship
The Access Services Conference Support Staff Travel Scholarship is sponsored by the Access Services Conference. The award recognizes two support staff members for outstanding work and commitment in the field of access services. The recipients will receive a citation, travel funding, and registration for the Annual Access Services Conference, held November 16-18, 2016, at the Georgia Tech Global Learning Center. To qualify for the award, the candidate must be employed as library support staff serving in one of the fields of access services (circulation, reserves, collection maintenance, interlibrary loan/resource sharing, or other related areas.) Suitability for the award will be considered based on the demonstration of outstanding work and commitment in the field of access services.
To be considered for this award, please submit two letters: one from the dean, director, or supervisor of the staff member addressing the criteria detailed above; and one from the nominee, briefly describing how the person might benefit from attending the conference. Letters of nomination should include the following information.
- nominee’s full name, work address, telephone number, and e-mail address
- background on the nominee’s career in libraries
- description of the nominee’s achievements in the field of Access Services
Self-nominations will be accepted.
The deadline to nominate someone for the award is Friday, July 15. Nomination letters and questions can be submitted to Sarah Mangrum, Distinguished Achievement in Access Services Award Chair, at Sarah.Rials@usm.edu. She may also be contacted at (601) 266-4251.
