American Rescue Plan Act Funding Sources
As state and federal agencies release additional information about the availability of funding authorized by ARPA, we're keeping our ARPA Funding for Illinois Libraries index up-to-date. Information about the following opportunities has been updated there:

  • FCC: ALA has put together a ECF Solutions Toolkit to prepare libraries to apply for funding via the Emergency Connectivity Fund (ECF). The opportunity is not open yet, but there are steps libraries can take now to get ready.
  • IMLS: In addition to the $4,472,647 allocated to Illinois via the Grants to States program, libraries may apply directly to IMLS for funding. $15 million is available to libraries and museums; individual grants are between $10,000 and $50,000, and carry a 100% cost share. Projects must begin November 1, 2021 and the period of performance is through October 31, 2022. Read the notice of funding opportunity.
  • Illinois Humanities: ILA Executive Director Diane Foote spoke (briefly) on a webinar hosted by Illinois Humanities last week on the organization's two grant programs funded by ARPA. Here is the recording. Here are the slides.

Springfield Update
The Illinois General Assembly has been convening in a special session to resolve some mechanical issues in the state budget bill, and to continue to work on energy legislation. The legislature has begun sending passed bills to the Governor for his consideration, and will continue doing so through the end of this month.
