COVID-19 Update -- February 11, 2021
February 11, 2021Vaccine Eligibility for Libraries in Illinois Counties
We're continuing to monitor progress with county departments of health across the state. Our list is updated in real time as we receive information; new this week: Cook County will not include libraries in Phase 1b but will "consider for future phases," with Chicago including libraries in Phase 1c; Edgar County will include libraries in Phase 1b; Mason County will not include libraries in Phase 1b but will consider for 1c; and Woodford County will include libraries in Phase 1c. Many thanks to all of you who are making these efforts in your communities. ILA Executive Director Diane Foote is quoted along with several other state library associations in a Library Journal article "Library Associations, Agencies, Workers Advocate for Early Vaccination Priority."
REALM Test Results
The REALM project has published the results of Tests 7 and 8 of Battelle’s laboratory testing for infectious COVID-19 virus on materials commonly found in archives, libraries, and museums. These tests compare the effect of colder and warmer temperatures on the attenuation rate of the virus on materials previously tested at ambient room temperatures.
