As Head of Technology & Maker Services, you are responsible for managing and developing traditional and cutting-edge services relative to making and technology for all ages.   

  • You oversee the Maker Studio and related services, classes, and promotions.
  • You oversee the public computers and associated technology such as scanning, faxing, photocopying and basic computer/software assistance.
  • You ensure the library offers state-of-the art technology services for our residents. 
  • You create amazing experiences for our library guests with your warmth, knowledge, and love of serving others. 
  • You lead, supervise, and mentor the Technology & Maker Services staff. 
  • You are an essential member of the leadership team, planning for the future and facilitating cooperation and communication within the organization.

The salary is $67,509 - $77,635 depending on experience. Benefits include IMRF pension plan, health, dental and vision insurance, life and disability insurance, eight paid holidays, 4 weeks vacation earned per year, 12 sick days earned per year, and two personal days. The position works 37.5 hours/week including days, evenings and weekends.

Requirements

  • Master of Library Science degree from an ALA accredited school.
  • Minimum of five years progressively responsible experience in public libraries including providing reference and reader’s advisory services.
  • Minimum of three years recent management or supervisory experience.  
  • Ability to effectively adapt and integrate new technologies and equipment.
  • Knowledge and practice of the principles and practices of supervision, including coaching and team building skills.
  • Proficiency in using computers and other devices plus Word, Excel, Outlook, the Internet and library catalog and software.
  • Reliable transportation.
