Notice Regarding Invoice Payments
September 5, 2025
With the Early Bird registration deadline for the 2025 ILA Annual Conference coming up on September 15th, we are reaching out to our ILA community to remind you of the importance of paying ILA invoices in a timely manner. Your prompt payments help ILA continue to plan and execute the high-quality events you’ve come to expect.
ILA relies on expeditious payments of membership dues, event registrations, and sponsor and exhibitor payments in order to provide the vast assortment of events at a high standard for the Illinois library community. As a non-profit organization that is not funded directly by local, state, or federal funding, we rely on registration fees to provide these continuing education opportunities.
ILA does not require payment at the time of registration though payment is due by the start of the event. If payment cannot be made prior to the event (e.g., if your registration needs board approval, the invoice has to be sent to the city, etc.), it is your responsibility to email ila@ila.org to let us know when payment will be sent and for which registrations.
Bill me later: The Bill me later option has been a long-standing benefit that ILA offers to members, non-members, exhibitors, and sponsors. To continue offering the payment flexibility of the Bill me later option, we need your help.
In 2023, we saw a significant rise in outstanding invoices due to the use of the Bill me later option. ILA made modifications to registration policies but we’re seeing a rise in that number again.
In an effort to prevent the removal of the Bill me later option, we are increasing communication with our leaders, members, and event attendees. Additionally, we are implementing stronger consequences for outstanding invoices.
Registration rates and deadlines are shared well in advance to help libraries plan. ILA is flexible with registration, payments, and cancellations but we must be notified in a timely manner to help us alleviate costs.
Invoices are available in ILA personal profiles to print or save as a PDF. ILA staff also mail invoices periodically to the indicated billing address. ILA also offers the option of collective invoicing by emailing ila@ila.org if you have multiple people registered for an event.
On behalf of the ILA Executive Committee and ILA staff, we appreciate your understanding in helping ensure payments for ILA invoices are made in a timely manner.
