Legislative Update -- May 29, 2025

May 29, 2025

Last year, we had a huge win for equitable internet access across the country: the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) approved an E-Rate hotspots lending program for libraries and schools that would enable thousands of hotspots to be shared across the country. But this month, the Senate moved forward with a resolution to end this program effective immediately unless we work to stop this resolution from passing in the House.

We need you to write to your Representative right away and demand that they protect this vital program!

The American Library Association has just sent a formal letter to the House of Representatives, alongside dozens of other organizations, urging them to reject this unfair legislation, as the Senate should have done this month. Will you join ALA and ILA and take action today to urge the House to protect internet access for everyone?
