NEW: Fun Size IACRL Digital Conference!

Illinois Association of College & Research Libraries Forum (IACRL)

by Joshua Newport, Illinois State University, IACRL Vice President/President-Elect

At the IACRL Unconference during ILA 2024 there was a lot of feedback from our colleagues - people missed the IACRL conferences that used to happen in the spring. The IACRL Conference and Continuing Education Committee is responding by putting together an online mini-conference to test the response to the idea – the IACRL 2025 Spring Sampler!

The three-hour virtual IACRL Spring Sampler, 11 AM to 2 PM on Thursday the 17th of April, is a great way for academic library workers to experience a taste of a full conference without having to take too much time out of our busy schedules. There are three parts to participate in:

  • 11-12 - a program on Imposter Phenomena presented by April Anderson-Zorn of Illinois State University

  • 12-1 - a lunchtime chat, with breakout room roundtable discussions on a variety of topics, allowing people to meet and network with colleagues across the state while sharing thoughts.

  • 1-2 - a set of lightning talks, a virtual version of poster presentations, to allow more colleagues to share their work in bite-sized pieces.

You register once and can come and go from the Zoom rooms as your inclination, interest, and schedule allow. We hope this will be a great opportunity for IACRL members of all experience levels to embrace their shared community!

For new colleagues, who haven’t experienced as many conferences, it will give an idea of things to expect a full in-person conference. For more experienced colleagues, it is an opportunity to share the benefit of their experiences and be inspired by new ideas. For all our colleagues, it is a low stakes opportunity with minimal cost in time or money. Come for as much or as little of it as you want, we’ll be happy to see you whenever you choose to be present!

Visit IACRL Spring Sampler 2025 to register for the conference or to respond to our call for participation and proposals. We love to hear from you!
