Date Set for Workshop on Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA)
September 6, 2016The Illinois School Library Media Association (ISLMA) is partnering with IHLS, ILA, ISL, RAILS, and the American Association of School Librarians (AASL) in collaboration with American Library Association’s Office for Library Advocacy (OLA) and the ALA Washington Office to offer a free workshop on the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA). AASL leaders will facilitate the session, which is one of many being offered in states all over the country.
The workshops will:
- Provide the most current information on developments at the Federal level and work through the sections of ESSA that can be directly linked to the school librarian/library program.
- Connect ESSA language to the school librarian’s role.
- Discuss current recommendations for opportunities at state and local levels to ensure the effective school library program’s language in ESSA.
This hands-on session will aid in identifying stakeholders, building coalitions, and messaging.
Register to attend the virtual ESSA Workshop for 3 PDH (Professional Development Hours) on Saturday, September 24, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
