Health Science Librarians of Illinois Update
Illinois Association of College & Research Libraries Forum (IACRL)
September 27, 2023by Eric Edwards, Illinois State Library
The Health Science Librarians of Illinois organization held its 2023 Annual Conference on Friday, September 22, in Warrenville, IL. The theme was “Stepping Out of the Pandemic: Improvement and Strength”. Dr. Tracey Smith, Director of Community Health and Programs at Illinois Public Health Association, presented the keynote talk, “Health Scientists, Libraries and Public Health: Partners for Community Health”. Tina Griffin, Associate Professor and the library liaison to the Colleges of Pharmacy and Medicine at the University of Illinois Chicago’s Daley Library, gave a live continuing-education session, “Developing an Evidence Synthesis Service: Determining Scope and Needs”. Please check the Conference website for additional details on this year’s event.
Watch the HSLI website for information on other upcoming events, including an “ad hoc” webinar on liaison librarianship next month, along with the HSLI Journal Club’s next meeting in November. Both of these online events are open to HSLI members and non-members alike. The organization always welcomes new members, however, and having a job in health sciences and medical librarianship is not required. Members include academic, public, and special librarians, along with retirees. Please check the membership application page for information on how to join.
