Proposals Deadline for 2016 Access Services Conference is Friday, May 6
Illinois Association of College & Research Libraries Forum (IACRL)
May 1, 2016(via Krista Hingham, McNairy Library and Learning Forum at Millersville University)
I wanted to remind everyone that the deadline for submitting your presentation or poster proposals for the 2016 Access Services Conferences is rapidly sneaking up on us. That’s right, we’re down to just five days! It’s time to submit your proposal!
If you’re unfamiliar with what the Access Services Conference is all about, you should feel free to peruse the website. In a nutshell, however, it is a fantastic event that allows individuals working in all areas of access services a chance to present their work, discuss ideas, mix, mingle, network, collaborate, and connect with like-minded cohorts. Also, there is more Coca-Cola than you could possibly drink in two lifetimes.
The 2016 conference will be held in Atlanta, Georgia, from November 16 to 18, at the Global Learning Center and Georgia Tech Hotel and Conference Center, and you still have a chance to get in on the action by submitting your proposal today! We are accepting program and poster proposals until Friday, May 6, 2016, at 5:00 PM.
Accepted presentations should be able to fit within a 45-minute segment, including time for questions. Posters will be presented in a dedicated poster-session. Proposals might focus on any of the following areas: customer service, interlibrary loan, consortia agreements, electronic resources, leadership and team building, marketing, course reserves, security and safety, space management, stacks maintenance, student employee management, technology for access services enhancement. . . or, like, a whole bunch of other great topics. In short, if you’re doing interesting and exciting work (and, trust me, you are), we want to hear about it. Submit your proposal today.
Proposal Guidelines: Please submit an abstract–150 or fewer words –with the program or poster title and your name. Presentation and poster proposals will be reviewed by the program committee, and those presenters who are selected will be notified by May 27, 2016. To submit your proposal, go here. For more information, or to preview previous presentations, please visit the conference website.
Please direct any questions to Catherine Jannik Downey (cdowney@ggc.edu). Vendors or organizations interested in sponsoring the Access Services Conference should contact Denita Hampton, at dahampton@gsu.edu. Also, keep up with the planning process for this year’s conference on Twitter (@2016ASC) and Facebook.
