Katherine Applegate Joins A Library State of Mind: Newbery Medal and Bluestem Award Winning Author
August 12, 2015 Katherine Applegate will be the featured speaker at the Readers' Choice Awards Breakfast on Saturday, October 24 at the conference. The breakfast celebrates the winners of the Monarch, Bluestem, Abe Lincoln High School, and Rebecca Caudill Young Readers' Book Awards.
Applegate is the winner of the 2015 Bluestem Book Award and the 2013 John Newbery Medal for her book The One and Only Ivan. The author of many books for children and young adults, her novel Home of the Brave was awarded the 2008 Golden Kite Award for Best Fiction, the Bank Street 2008 Josette Frank Award for children's fiction, and was a Judy Lopez Memorial Award honor book.
Following the breakfast, Applegate will discuss her work at an 11:00 a.m. program.
