Teen Librarian | Prospect Heights Public Library District

The Prospect Heights Public Library is seeking a creative, enthusiastic advocate for teens to join our Youth Services Department. This position is ideal for someone who is passionate about working with youth in Grades 6-12, up-to-date with ever-changing trends, and unafraid to try new things. We are seeking someone who is collaborative, team-oriented, and forward-thinking. You will join a team of 6 dedicated Youth Services professionals.

 

Major duties and responsibilities include:

  • Readers’ advisory and reference services to youth and caregivers, with a focus on teens in Grades 6-12
  • Create and present monthly programs for teens in Grades 6-12
  • Manage Teen Volunteers
  • Collection development of High School Fiction, Nonfiction, and Graphic Novels
  • Outreach to local middle and high schools and community events
  • Serve as Person in Charge (PIC) as needed

As a full-time staff member you will participate in IMRF, receive paid sick time and vacation pay.  You will be eligible for our medical (BCBS); dental and vision insurance; and FSA. Our library also offers an optional 457 retirement savings plan.

Requirements

MLS required. Experience working with youth required. Customer service experience preferred. Bilingual in Polish, Spanish, Russian, or Ukrainian a plus.
