Community Engagement Supervisor with Youth Focus 
Full-time, includes weekends & evenings

Skokie Public Library seeks an enthusiastic and experienced Community Engagement Supervisor to collaborate with direct service staff, community partners, and other library departments in support of positive youth development. The Community Engagement Supervisor works with, and under the supervision of, the Director of Community Engagement to plan, coordinate, and deliver programs and services of interest to patrons and partners, with a focus on infants through 8th graders and their caregivers.

Selected Responsibilities:

  • Hire, train, schedule, coach, and review performance of staff
  • With a focus on positive youth development for infants through 8th grade, work with staff and Community Engagement Director to determine, develop, evaluate, and prioritize community engagement services, proactively seeking community input and considering library services overall
  • Engage with community leaders and members in order to establish sustainable relationships with community groups and organizations
  • Build knowledge about the community and resources available to the public  
  • Work closely with other departments to navigate library systems in order to offer effective services for the community
  • Plan and present events in the community and at the library
  • Contribute to public services in the library and in the community 

Preferred Competencies:  

  • Multilingual skills in English plus another language relevant to the Skokie community, including, but not limited to, Arabic, Assyrian, Dari, Pashto, Spanish, and Urdu

Requirements

Selected Requirements:

  • Master’s of library science degree from an ALA accredited library school  
  • Minimum two years supervisory experience
  • Experience in building and managing community partnerships    
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills  
  • Outstanding interpersonal and customer service skills 
  • Excellent organizational skills, time management skills, and attention to detail 
  • Demonstrated track record of cultural effectiveness working in a racially, ethnically, and socioeconomically diverse communities or environments

Salary

The annual pay range for new hires in this position is $57,828 to $72,285. Offers are made within this range based on competencies, experience, and internal equity.
