DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO: Develop, coordinate, present, and evaluate programming activities for children, including storytimes for babies, toddlers, and preschoolers; marionette and hand puppet shows; library clubs; and craft programs, in consultation with the Children’s Team Lead and Assistant Director. Build community engagement with library resources through outreach efforts, including public appearances and coordination with community groups, schools, and the media, collaborating with the Marketing Coordinator. Coordinate and participate in school outreach programs, as well as community outreach and library-wide campaigns. Contribute to planning and development of the annual Summer Reading Program. Create promotional descriptions for use on library media platforms, posters, and other marketing materials. Write or assist with writing grants as needed. Use equipment and software that supports programming. Provide support at the Children’s Desk, assisting patrons with locating library materials, offering computer assistance, and delivering reader’s advisory services. Assist in the planning and development of reading initiatives like Big Read and Community Read. Attend professional development workshops, conferences, and webinars as budget permits. Maintain knowledge of the library’s catalog system (staff and OPAC interfaces), databases, and e-Resources. Serve on committees as needed. Drive the Mobile Library as required. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s Degree required. Two years of programming or related experience and/or training preferred. Experience working with children, a strong understanding of child development and reading levels, and familiarity with Children’s literature preferred. Creativity and enthusiasm for working with children. Excellent organizational, time management, and multi-tasking skills. Good written and oral communication skills. Demonstrated computer skills. Ability to lift, push, carry, and/or pull moderate to heavy materials. Clean driving record and valid driver’s license required. Obtain a Class C Driver’s License within 90 days from the delivery of the Mobile Library.
