iREAD Awards
Presented by the iREAD Committee.
Each year the Illinois Reading Enrichment and Development (iREAD)
program encourages Illinois libraries to create imaginative reading
program ideas to promote the use of the iREAD theme.
Rationale
The awards acknowledge active participation by Illinois libraries
in promoting the utilization of the iREAD theme to inspire children
to read and visit their libraries.
Eligibility
Any Illinois library may submit a Resource Guide idea.
iREAD committee members are not eligible to win.
Selection Process
Resource Guide submission forms must be received by the Resource
Guide Coordinator by August 15. One winner will be drawn randomly
from each of following six submission categories: ñDecorations,î
ñPrograms,î ñCrafts,î ñGames & Activities,î ñRegistration & Recordingî
and ñSongs, Skits & Slogans.î The award winners will each receive
a $35 gift certificate for the next year's iREAD products. Recipients
will be announced in the October ILA Reporter and at the iREAD brainstorming
session at the ILA conference.
Criteria
Participating libraries should send ideas that meet the
following criteria:
- Each entry must be theme related for the upcoming iREAD program.
- The audience level should be kindergarten Æ 8th grade.
- The ideas should be creative and imaginative.
- Please enter only one idea per submission form. (Multiple
slogan ideas may be submitted on one form.)
- There is no limit to the number of submissions that each library
may enter.
- Each entry must be typed or printed legibly.
- Any titles referred to in the submission must include bibliographic
information.

or the Internet must be submitted for the ñResourceî category.
The Resource Guide submission forms sent to every public library
in early June serve as the iREAD Awards entry form.
