The Alliance Library System seeks a Director for the Mid-Illinois
Talking Book Center to lead the operations of a sub-regional Talking
Book Center. Job functions will include:
Planning, directing and supervising all activities for management
of library service for the blind, visually impaired, physically
handicapped and learning disabled residents of the Talking Book Center
service are
- Development, management, control and evaluation of the Talking Book
Center's annual budget and plan of service
- Preparing reports as required by the Illinois State Library, the
Alliance Library System, and the National Library Service; an
- Planning and supervising outreach activities.
Applicants should possess a broad understanding of the multi-type
library structure and a broad understanding of local, state and
national library trends; have the ability to effectively present and
communicate ideas, concepts and policies verbally and in writing; and
the ability to effectively organize and prioritize work and manage
multiple tasks simultaneously.
A Master's degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited
library program is required; five to seven years library experience in
a professional position, five to seven years management experience, or
any equivalent combination of experience is required.
Salary for this position will be $57,400 to $86,100 depending on
