Navy
Pier in Chicago will be the site for ILA's Annual Conference, held
September 23 - 26, 2008. We hope to provide a stimulating program
that is responsive to our members' information needs.
Illinois has one of the most extensive systems of libraries —
public, academic, school, and special — in the country. A
total of 3,802 libraries — public, college and university,
school media centers, and special libraries (corporate, medical,
law, religious, etc.) — are located in the state.
The Illinois Library Association (ILA) Annual Conference is the
third-largest state library exposition in the nation. We represent
3,000 librarians from the state’s public, academic, school,
and special libraries.
Who Attends
The ILA conference is attended by librarians, trustees, library
assistants, educators, and others interested in libraries. Illinois
librarians spend more than $425 million on library and library-related
materials and supplies each year.
Attendee Information
Become actively involved in the 2008 ILA Annual Conference by presenting
a poster session or talk table. Poster sessions and talk tables
will be offered on the exhibit floor on Navy Pier, September 24
and 25.
Poster sessions showcase successful research projects, display
a grant, or present an innovative program from your library. These
presentations are displayed on bulletin boards and are ninety minutes
in length. Presenters should be available during this time to answer
questions.
Talk tables are informal one-hour discussions on pertinent, often
everyday, topics led by a moderator. If there is a library topic
or question you want to discuss with your colleagues in an informal
setting, consider moderating a talk table.
